Hello to all AOS members,
I thought it was about time I introduced myself
My system changed profoundly about 3 years ago, having spent ~18 happy years with Spendor S100s driven (for ~ 13yrs) by a Musical Fidelity KW500 (speakers augmented with Townshend supertweeters and 2xREL Stentors) I finally purchased my longtime 'dream' 'speaker...
So I now have EAR 509 mkII 100W monoblocks driving Avantgarde Duo G1 (Omega upgraded)
Other gear;
Roksan TMS TT/Artemis/Lyra Titan i
ASR Basis Exclusive
Meridian 200T
Metrum Acoustics Jade DAC
Yamaha HDD CDR1500
+ Nakamichi cassette deck and sansui g.e (to reminisce by replaying those 40 year old JOHN Peel show cassettes!) and Oppo and Panasonic Blu ray/universal machines
Wires spk -musical fidelity tri-vista, I/C - Cardas G.R, dig - Tron, power - ASR, Black Sand, R.A
Townshend seismic stands and speaker podiums
People may be surprised and astonished that I'm currently not using a conventional analogue preamp as the most transparent method I have found (currently) is sending analogue through the ADC of the Yamaha then to the DAC (which has a voltage regulated remote volume control) ...and the DAC drives the poweramps directly.
(I had high hopes for the Townshend Allegri but it didn't work for me at all)
Plus lots of now superfluous gear needing to be moved on! (And s**tloads of redundant cables!)
I have eclectic musical tastes having been most greatly inspired by listening to the JOHN Peel Show from about 1977-1995 (so Punk/Post Punk/Glam/Reggae/Folk/Intrumental and vocal Jazz/Blues/RnR/RnB/Electro pop/Indie/Classic Rock and pop of the 60's/70's)
I go to plenty of gigs (and am hating the effect of COVID-19 on the live music scene and its effect on quality of life)
Have a few gtrs and a bass (though wouldn't have the audacity to call myself a guitarist) and very occasionally still do the odd composition with a mate.
Regards to all
Andy
