Was the "warm white LEDs" the deciding factor?

I thought it had an orange display? That was what swung it for me.

Have you given it a try Martin? I've had one delivered today. I didn't get off to a good start with it trying the optical connection. Couldn't raise a peep out of it! I tried the 75ohm connection and that worked but found I needed to run the volume right the way around so it maybe my fault that the optical didn't seem to work - maybe I wasn't pushing the volume to a high enough setting. I thought the unit sounded rather '' digital '' at first running some Prokofiev and Rachmaninov through it but it has shown some improvement in the space of a couple of CD's. Some Dave Grusin jazz finished up sounding pretty good through a bi-amped XTZ Edge feeding some Monitor Audio gold 200 floorstanders.
Guess I need to run the unit in.

I also could not get a peep out of it. But I think my digital coax cable is faulty. New one should arrive today and I'll try again. Didn't try optical as only have one optical cable and I'm using that on the telly.

Maybe I just didn't have the volume right the way round? I don't know. The only thing I can report so far is that the volume knob is way too cheap and nasty for a product costing the thick end of a monkey. Hopefully the SQ will make up for it.

Always wondered where the term monkey came from:

The term monkey came from soldiers returning from India, where the 500 rupee note had a picture of a monkey on it. They used the term monkey for 500 rupees and on returning to England the saying was converted for sterling to mean £500.

All makes sense.
