Those Choppers remind me somewhat of the Schwinn Apple, Cherry, lemon Crate or Grey Ghost bikes I always wanted back in the day. Cool bikes for sure. I had forgotten that Raleigh had done similar.

The Schwinn models I spoke of fetch crazy money here, if you can even find them. Arm, leg, why yes please. Then I won’t be able to ride said bike, but by god I’ll have one!

My Mum got me a brand new Raleigh Grifter which I loved - A big spend for her those days, bless her.

That is a detail I do remember from the ones around when I was a kid.
I never owned a chopper, but I did put ape hangers on my regular Sun racing bike. Thought it looked the dog's danglies...
