Popped into Lidl this afternoon, and they're selling one of the most GOREGOUS examples of the above known to man, for a Billy Bargain £11.99. It's called Passito di Pantelleria. The top japan whiskies are good. One I've got is similar style of jar.
It's blended malt and grain but nicely done. Better than the old trademark x from eadies

If that shares the same characteristics as the Hibiki 17 you are in for a treat. I was lucky enough to sample the 17 and it was very good. It made me more aware of Japanese whisky. The only problem.is that the 17 YO is prohibitively expensive, IMHO.This:
