Hi
I have viewed your video. This is quite easy to fix. You hold the tap body with an adjustable spanner and undo the nut behind the tap handle, you will need to unscrew tap as you are undoing it. Wipe out inside tap body. On the end of thetap shaft is a rubber seal, get a pin and remove it then turn it over this will give it a new lease of life.

Yeah those were the reasons that made me order one, but then the reality hit home that it's not worth the effort for one large coffee per day, especially given the fact that I can't taste much difference between coffee I make with tap water, and that made from various types of mineral water (I've tried a few)

He was right. No leaky anymore.
Unsure how long it will last but probably a year or more it was in good condition on the other side. It's about 1 cm thick.

TBH you could extend the life of the bad side by ramming some aluminium foil in there before you put the washer back in.
The washer just loses resilience over time.
The thing about Gaggia Classic and other old time designs like Rockets is they do have a very good degree of maintainability. Though a Rocket is more complex than a Gaggia Classic internally.
