I've still got a landline but not used it in years. The rubber on the keys has perished so although it does still work you have to stab at them with a pen to get it to register.

Do you/did you get a lot of nuisance calls? We get no bother with that crap at all. There are steps you can take to sort it, such as registering with TPS: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/hom...nuisance-calls
Is your landline with Virgin? We've also got call barring, and caller display, so if I don't recognise the number and/or I'm too busy to take the call, I ignore it and it goes straight to voicemail. Nuisance callers very rarely leave messages
So are you still paying for your landline, despite not using it? You should get it cancelled.
