Is that metal casework or some other material? Looks neat and tidy.

It's an anodised case with enamelled back and front plates. Seems sturdy enough and looks OK.

I've been trying out this passive pre-amp and it sounds very decent. The switchable dual inputs should be useful.

On its way. Just bought this Thorens TD150 Mk.II in what looks like near mint condition. Lovely little turntables these.

Never heard the TD150. How do they sound in stock form?

Very nice. People don't rate the arm, but it's actually OK, just not suited to heavy low compliance MC's and the like.

    Yeah, that's what I thought.

Really looking forward to getting this, I had a couple of TD150's when I first got into Hi-Fi and loved them. Had a beauty that I put a Decca International arm on, it sounded great.

The Thorens TD150 arrived and it's in amazing condition for a deck that's been around for half a century. I'm considering keeping it standard, although the non Thorens plinth may be replaced.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
