I'm gone.
Hmm, Gaz must be saving up the Grand Disclosure pic for his 7,000th post.
.
I hear he's flogged all his tat and gone for one of these new-fangled all in ones:
With its own dinky speakers. Thanks to modern technology they are designed to sound best sat on the floor behind the couch, possibly with a vase full of flowers on them.
Current Lash Up:
TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.
going for an all in one myself soon...so there

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

That music centre certainly brings back some great memories.
Older cousin had the exact same one that he got from the catalogue
He added an additonal pair of speakers, Wharfedale Dovedales I think they were.
That thing sounded sweet to my ears back in the late '70's - happy days and looked damn nice too, I loved it
My System:
Amplification - Sansui AU-alpha 707 DR
Turntable - Technics SP10 MK2-Technics EPA-250 Tonearm-Yannis Tome 423.5Plus tonearm cable-Eichmann KLEI Absolute Harmony plugs.
Ortofon Cadenza Black moving coil cartridge-Fritz Gyger S re-tip. Panzerholz plinth.
CDP - Pioneer PD-91
Speakers - Spendor D7 on Soundcare SuperSpikes
QED Silver Spiral speaker cable-airloc banana plugs
Mains - Ultra Pure silver plated un-switched socket-Missing link EPS 500 silver plated plugs-Hi-Fi Tuning gold plated silver ceramic 13 amp fuses
....or you could have had a Hacker, with (matching front) extension amp to make it stereo.
Much sought after nowadays!
Note the sliders! My first amp had those -forget (at the moment!) the name. (It WAS 1970!)
Chris.
Enjoyed my M2Tech Young Dac for a good few years, was an upgrade to my Rega dac I had at the time.
Before that it was a couple of Stan Beresford dacs.
Sold the Young here and bought a PS Audio Directstream, great sounding bit of kit and unusual in that it runs from an FPGA, not a traditional Dac chip.
As such, its software programmable and its creator Ted Smith writes new improved firmware which PS Audio gives away for free.
All the connections you could ever need, including a direct ethernet input, which lets you use it as a streamer for Roon, Spotify etc.
Pretty cool.
Big deal for me here was I had fitted an i2s output board to my Oppo 203, which lets me use the dac's best sounding connection.
Here's me testing the output into the dac - all good.
With the free software upgrades which get more and more out the dacs hardware this one will see me out, no desire to change love how it sounds.

I'm gone.
Nice looking DAC but it does annoy me when DACs only have one example of each type of digital input.
I want multiple co-ax and TOSLINK inputs!! What's so hard about that?
