Were those interceptors armed with anything else apart from the one giant missile? I doubt that they had heat-seeking technology in those days, so to fly thousands of miles, then miss, must have been a right sickener. "Well that's me done, might as well bog off back to base now".
Watched an episode last night (first time in 40 years) much to Mrs. P's bemusement. "What's this crap? I bet those geeks on your forum put you up to this" was all she said before going away to wash her socks or something.
