Dimitri, they may measure well but they don't sound well until they have been heavily modified - new arm or arm re-wire, new feet, offboard PSU, new mats and a fancy MC cart all chosen with the ears.
I believe it is a state of mind and an approach to evaluating hi-fi systems
I associate the term negatively with hi-fi made by Linn or Naim
If you want flat earth only Linn or Naim will do.
