Why bother switching off at all, though? I leave mine powered up 24/7, and simply click on a saved Volumio tab on my desktop, whenever I want to play music on the RPi, and I'm away in seconds - and it's been like that since day 1

Lesson to be learned: leave it on all the time and there's less chance of things getting buggered up!

That's the beauty of piCorePlayer, as it's a very trimmed down platform it runs completely from RAM, and therefore has no need to write back to the SD card...except when one wants to explicitly save new settings to the config file.

Which has a couple of benefits, firstly one can use any old sd card (I'm using a 4 yer old class 2 4GB one), and it can be toggled off and on by simply removing or replacing the power cable...which is nice

I've now got it to save the alsamixer settings too, so it is completely immune to power issues, or restarts...
