Yep, it's connected via Volumio and working fine. It's pinging fine too, nothing lost.

Still hangs on typing the password.

I will try the wired connection, see if it has anything to do with the wireless connection.

Logging the putty session may offer some clue as to what is happening. See here for example:

Sorry, scrub that, head not in gear. You really need to see the server side log, which of course you can't. (You could if you set up emailing from your RPi, but that's not something most people would want to do).

Before attemptiing to make a connection via Putty, pick the "default session" first. See 2nd screen shot here:

Highlight "default session" and click load button before entering ip of your RPi and clicking on open.

Am I mis construing what is happening BUT

when one types a login password one does not see anything (its a security thing). The screen only shows a * that does not move as you type.

Have you tried typing the password then clicking on submit/login?

Putty doesn't hide either login or password details. Well, not this version anyway and I believe it's the latest one.

OK... yes, Alan is correct... it doesn't show the password. But.... But.... I distinctly remember typing the password... or did I just dream that bit?

Also... this might come in handy for some.

To clear Putty's settings,
go to the command prompt,
make sure Putty is in the system path (or type the location)
type Putty -cleanup

I've now given up with this for the time being. Got Volumio working, but can't get it to see my Hard Drive with my music on. Sonos now plugged back in!
