I'm Andrei.
You must have a massive collection Jerry. My Schubert symphonies extends to: 5, Unfinished, and Great C Major (several copies of the latter two). How few hours do you sleep a day?

I'm Graeme.
Respighi: Pines of Rome, Feste Romane & Fountains of Rome,
Orchestre symphonique de Montreal conducted by Charles Dutoit
Decca 1983 SXDL 7591 (on vinyl)
One of Jerry's Charity Shop Classical LP's - and great fun! The vinyl looks rarely played, and sounds silent (well you know what I mean, there is none of the usual old vinyl background noise).

-- yep, they were all pretty much Minty. A real treasure trove. Some still available if you want to re-look at the thread.

I'm gone.
Following a highly successful raid on a charity shop where an armful of Minty LPs were purchased ....
The original Philips release of this (Can't find a stock image of the actual thing) ...
1955 Mono - but it sounds good - excellent performance - I'm baffled how an LP this old can still be mint.
And another ...
And a couple of late Beethoven piano sonatas from a real keyboard legend ...
I must admit I was disappointed, selfless and self-effacing to a fault. Just a bit boring, really.

I know just what you mean, have you heard Christophe Rousset's harpsichord playing? - he can never be accused of being "selfless and self-effacing to a fault. Just a bit boring"
If you have not heard him, then try his Goldberg Variations on the L'Oiseau-Lyre label. That's a pretty good starting point. :-)

No worries, Graeme - I know of lots of interesting pianists!
I find I have the same problem with Clifford Curzon - 'just the notes' doesn't do it for me - can you imagine Beethoven giving an emotionless performance of his own music? ...![]()
