Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)

It had just come out and I already had Meddle and Dark Side Of The Moon on cassette (recorded from my cousin's LPs). My cousin had just given me his old Garrard SP25 MkIII turntable with Goldring G800 cartridge and I remember rushing home from Gordon's (?) Records in Stockport and playing it - didn't even have an amp or speakers, so listened to it the first few times with my ear a few cms from the stylus

Still have that copy, but the cover is pretty battered and there are a few scratches, but it still plays OK

The first single I ever bought was 'Mellow Yellow' by Donovan, well I was 5 so I have an excuse...and my first LP was 'The Four Tops Greatest Hits', my elder brother and sister were Tamla fans, so I was a bit indoctrinated

I remember as a teenager studying the cover of WYWH for ages trying to work out if it had some deep meaning or connection to the lyrics

...I remember taking my copy back 4 times, as there was a scratch on the first track, must have been a bad batch, but I kept the bin liner, poster and postcards each time...made a nice mural

All my Floyd vinyl albums were bought in the 80's all on Japanese supercuts, i used to order one every fortnight, they were expensive back then.

The first "proper" album I bought was not the one that kicked it all off for me.
    It was this one...

Did a of lot casette recordings back then... the early years... hits of the time but also stuff like Laurie Anderson "O Superman"...

Anyway, first pre-recorded casette: Toto IV; my dad bought it for me

    - Depeche Mode "Master and Servant"
    - David Bowie "Lets Dance"

First CD: Level 42 "World Machine"
Didn't own a player at the time, but were in London and it was cheap
