Tresham sr402 250 watts MOSFET amp fully restored

HI, for sale here is my Tresham sr402 power amp which packs 250watts rms into 8 ohms rising to 550watts into 2ohms. Damping factor is 150. The amp has been fully recapped with Nichicon Gold Tune and other high spec capacitors. The main filter caps were around £200 alone. As well as replacing all electrolytic capacitors the output protection relays were also replaced.
These amps have an interesting history. Originally built by a company called Tresham they were built for both studio and hifi use. the amp gained a reputation for great sound quality and ruggedness, with great output /over-heating protection built in. The amp sounds fantastic and is good enough to make me question my allegiance to valve amplifiers. The bass output is just stunning and perfectly controlled. In fact, the amps sounded so good with Tannoy speakers Tannoy bought the company and continued production for a while with the amp badged the Tannoy SR 804!

Oh, man - that takes me back. Tresham gear was sensational stuff. I used to own a pre-power combination and it was hands down the best solid state sound I have ever owned. Richard Dunn was, I believe, the designer of this beauty.

Richard Dunn had nothing to do with the design of Tresham amplifiers. The Tresham SR402 amplifier was designed by an ex-Trident engineer called Barry Porter.

Richard Dunn was the sales representative for Tresham Audio.

Correct. Barry Porter was a very knowledgeable and pleasant chap. I assisted with the the design of the SR402 in a minor way and we sold a few and then the 'other chap' came along.

That 402 is a very nice amp and a good buy.
