Technics Mash CD Players

My next door neighbour has a 'Mash' Technics player. He owned a hifi shop, which he sold and retired some years ago, so has probably heard a fair few players over the years. I don't know which model, but I could find out.

I'd be curious to know if he chose a certain model

Hi John, this is the model my next door neighbour has, he has owned it since retiring and closing his shop twenty-odd years ago. He has never felt the need to replace it, and it's still going strong. Model number SL-PS770D.

It is the SH-X1000, from 1990.

Thanks for asking Steve they're a well built piece of kit and that model received good reviews in it's time. I'm still using my SL-PS620A, 32 years old, never let me down and won't part with it

I have a couple of Technics MASH players. One in the workshop (SLPG 270 from memory bought new in the 80s (?)) is still working fine after many years and being in the unheated garage/workshop. Brilliant reliability and (in my opinion) good enough sound for the w/shop.

I had a MASH cd player once. It was a very nice sounding CDP.

It was in a midi system, I seem to remember it saying 1bit mash Dac on the front.

Great little system.

That's one busy looking faceplate, although I do really like it. I can't say I have ever seen or heard one of these machines.

That's nothing compared to the SL-P990 which I yearned for when I started out in hifi. Purely driven by the count of buttons and volume of information on the display, I have to admit, which had to mean it sounded better than all the other ones.
