    My Favorite Brunette, 1947. Directed by Elliot Nugent and stars Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour.



    Bosley Crowther of The New York Times liked the film, saying: "Paramount knows a good thing when it sees one, especially when it earns a pile of bucks. And it also knows that there is magic in the juxtaposition of Mr. Hope and a dame—any dame this side of Woodlawn—and a preposterously turbulent plot. That's why the Paramount's new picture, the aforementioned "My Favorite Brunette," which candidly observes these criteria, is a commendably funny film."

    A good, and engaging film - I've seen it a few times.

    There have been a few good films based on Forsyth's books, such as: 'The Day of the Jackal' and 'The Fourth Protocol'.

    another classic, this time a western.. Shenandoah, 1965. Stars James Stewart, with Doug McClure, Glenn Corbett, Patrick Wayne, and, in their film debuts, Katharine Ross and Rosemary Forsyth.

    Directed by Andrew V. McLaglen, son of Victor McLaglen, who although often played Irish folk, was actually English; as was his son.


    Film was well recieved overall and although a western is based around the Civil War.. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound.

    The character of Troy McClure on The Simpsons was modelled after McClure and fellow actor Troy Donahue. Mike Reiss, executive producer of The Simpsons, said that Doug McClure's daughter informed him that Doug was a big fan of The Simpsons. She said that while watching an episode Doug saw the character Troy McClure on the show and said "Are they making fun of me?" Doug said he thought the parody was funny, and his daughters would call him Troy McClure behind his back as a joke.[7]

    I think "the film of the book" can often be a bit disappointing, but these transferred well to the big screen imo. Actually I've never read "The Fourth Protocol", but you've put it in my head now. So it'll be next up on the Kindle
