I watched it originally as the weekly serial on BBC - brilliant, one of those shows where you really don't want the episode to finish. But I watched it again a couple of years ago and it wasn't as gripping as I remembered it being. Still good though.

Das Boot has to be seen in one uninterupted sitting to appreciate the claustrophobic life on board a submarine.
I saw it in the cinema, and coming out at the end into daylight and fresh air was a revelation - and a relief!

I saw 'Morning Departure' as a youngster and that put me off any ideas of going in a submarine. Terrible way to die.
Although I did have a tour of one once but it was just sat in the harbour so I thought it was pretty safe. Can't remember the type but it was an American boat.
