Tonight it will be "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004) directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day and The Patriot) and starring Dennis Quaid. Not liked by most, and although it came out just a few years after 9 11 New Yorkers loved the scenes of the "Big Apple" getting blitzed by tidal waves etc, much to the surprise of all concerned. In fact New Yorkers were about the only ones who loved the film .....oh and me .It's bunkum, but pretty good bunkum and although the science is not up to scratch, the action is.

Finally got to see the end of it. Some nice scenes etc, and for all it's shortcomings, a pretty decent film.

.....change of pace now and back to Ealing for Alec Guinness in "The Man In The White Suit", directed by Alexander Mackendrick and also stars the delectable Joan Greenwood. This is the restored Studiocanal bluray version.

Dont mind during the day but at night he needs to learn to turn it down a notch or two. He is young and thinks as long as he is enjoying it, F%&K everyone else, but 2 can play that game.

Again a very good Ealing comedy. I can't remember when it was made, but the studio were flirting with ideas that could have caused difficulty with the film censor: the idea that the Joan Greenwood character is being encouraged by the mill owners to seduce/sleep with Alec Guinness, in order to get him to reveal the secret of his thread that will never wear out nor get dirty.
