    Yes, enjoyable

The only thing that kind of spoiled it for me was the fact that they used the actor (James Cromwell) for the role of surrogate inventor. Now you may well ask why I find that unfortunate...

Well he played such a similar role in I Robot that I was amazed he was cast in what may well have been exactly the same role

Inventor of the surrogates, inventor of the robots, destroyer of the surrogates when he realised what they'd do to mankind, destroyer of the positronic brain that was controlling the robots as soon as he realised (once again) what it'd lead to

Other than that it was indeed enjoyable. The Oppo also now shows the limitation of the BD transfer, it was kind of soft in quite a few shots. Never noticed that previously, but then it's a much better player

I'm already considering what to watch later on this evening, too many choices

    Another Earth

Gob-smackingly brilliant story of a girl who commits a terrible crime and seeks to redress the balance. It's a human relationship story and the second Earth discovery is just a backdrop to the storyline. Superbly acted by Brit Marling (very pretty) and William Mapother, who mesmerise with their slowly growing friendship while 'Rhoda' carries the burden of her terrible knowledge.

This isn't SF, so don't go looking for that. The physics of the 2nd Earth's proximity are all wrong, which leads me to believe that it's merely a symbol, a device if you like, for the story's finale. And what a final scene!

I watched Another Earth a couple of weeks ago and as you say it is a brilliant movie. Recommended!

Seeing as the world was supposed to end yesterday (still here? ), on Thursday evening I thought I'd get myself into the mood by watching Damnation Alley. Yes it's a 'B' movie and yes, it is very cheesy with lots of dodgy special effects and an entire forest of wooden actors but I love it. Best of all are the superb score by Jerry Goldsmith (I'm a big fan) and the truck! Man I love that truck... Can I have one for Christmas???
