Great bit of trivia for a great movie.

Worth mentioning too,
James Cameron originally envisaged "The Terminator" as someone who would blend in with other people, and be the last person you'd suspect as a murdering cyborg?
(Source: many MANY Starlog magazines from back in the day - have a few of em still, worth a few bob nowadays)

Cameron's original pick for the Terminator was Lance Henriksen, great actor (but in Cameron's words an "Everyman") who fitted his idea_ at that time_ of the Character perfectly.
Even concept art floating about out there of Henriksen as the Terminator.

He did of course get recast in the movie as "#2 Cop".

Original and the best...The Terminator, 1984.. directed by James Cameron. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger (who originally was up for the Reese part), Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn.







For the role of Kyle Reese, Orion wanted a star whose popularity was rising in the United States but who also would have foreign appeal. Orion co-founder Mike Medavoy had met Arnold Schwarzenegger and sent his agent the script for The Terminator. Cameron was uncertain about casting Schwarzenegger as Reese as he felt he would need someone even more famous to play the Terminator. Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson both turned down the Terminator role. The studio suggested O. J. Simpson but Cameron did not feel that Simpson, at that time, would be believable as a killer.

Cameron agreed to meet with Schwarzenegger and devised a plan to avoid casting him; he would pick a fight with him and return to Hemdale and find him unfit for the role. However, Cameron was entertained by Schwarzenegger, who would talk about how the villain should be played. Cameron began sketching his face on a notepad and asked Schwarzenegger to stop talking and remain still. After the meeting, Cameron returned to Daly saying Schwarzenegger would not play Reese but that "he'd make a hell of a Terminator".

Silver Streak, 1976. directed by Arthur Hiller and stars Gene Wilder, Jill Clayburgh, and Richard Pryor, with Patrick McGoohan, Ned Beatty, Clifton James, and Richard Kiel in supporting roles.









Film did very well and was well recieved by most critics.

Murder, Inc. That sort of reminds me, I wanted to watch 'Last Exit to Brooklyn' again. I'll dig it out .

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, 1984. directed by Leonard Nimoy, and based on the television series Star Trek. It is the third film in the Star Trek franchise, and is the second part of a three-film story arc that begins with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and concludes with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).





To guard against leaks that had prefigured Spock's death during production of The Wrath of Khan, Paramount took precautions to secure the sets. Set designer Cameron Birnie noted that the production's security was highly unusual; sets were built out of sequence and the crew given only as many pages as they needed to fabricate each locale. Security guards checked the picture identification cards of production staff. Any mention of the production was removed from stationery and documents, and "Trois" (three, in French) was written as a code word. Offices and workshops were bereft of identifying signage, with doors double-locked for extra protection. The Search for Spock's scripts were chemically treated so that copies could be traced to the original; as a further canary trap, subtle changes in wording distinguished each copy. Nimoy's name never appeared on call sheets, and Spock was referred to in the script as "Nacluv" (Vulcan spelled backwards). Despite the precautions, word of the Enterprise's destruction leaked out before the film's release.
