Forbidden Planet, 1956. Directed by Fred M. Wilcox, and stars Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, and Leslie Nielsen. This was the first mainstream film to have the music performed entirely with Electronic instruments.
Gene Roddenberry said that this film was a major inspiration for the series Star Trek.. This was filmed on the Wizard of Oz set, and Altaira's garden was the Munchkin's village.
