    Default Audiolab new CD players.

Any AOS member here heard the Audiolab 8200CDQ?

The 8200CDQ is on my list.

Does anyone know if they're planning to release the DAC on its own?

I've already got quite an investment in audiolab kit...

    8000CDM/8000DAX/8000Q/8000SX/8000P

...and would probably only benefit from the new DAC as I doubt the CDQ's transport and preamp would be any better than the CDM and Q individually.

Mind you I've had a lot of work done on the DAX, and it sounds beautiful, but you know how hi-fi greed works...new, shiny, 32bit, and the missus would never know, it would just disappear in a stack of black boxes...

Yes, Mr Westlake is in the midst of designing the MDAC; now that he's done with the final design of the CDQ ;-)

Apparently the MDAC is a sub-GBP500 DAC in a small case format with OLED display, Class A Headphone Amp, USB and Digital inputs sporting a "ClockLock" feature...

We'll just have to see if they meet their goal at that price point next year

Heard the DAC with a mac book at the Manchester show.
Didn't stay for long at most exhibits but this was very impressive and made me sit and listen for a while.
