This AU-999 amp and TU-999 tuner were both bought new and have remained in every day use ever since. Perhaps some of the the first examples of ‘the black look’, they are though quite difficult to photograph.

We both started out with Tripletone amps and I forgot that his big Sansui also had triple tone controls, though with a choice of turnover frequencies.

    Bloody gorgeous those!

I just love that type of retro styling

My Sansui TU-717. I don't have to look further for a tuner because this one is all I wanted.
It sure got the looks and the sound is amazing. I can recommend the Sansui vintage tuners to anyone looking for good gear.
They don't build them like this anymore. So if you see one, don't hesitate.
Mine I found in a total mint state at a 2nd hand shop.
I have the bulb dial lamps changed. It was very easy job - even for me and I
got 2 lefties - the costs were about $12.

Sacha, must agree with you.TU-717 certainly is one of the best Sansui tuner, and one of the best of all time IMHO.Congratulations on your score .Try to find a companion,AU-717,and then you have a wonderful Sansui set.
