I'm Greg.
Guardian newspaper today says it’s their best album since 1976.
1976? That would be post 'Black and Blue'. No argument from me.
IMO, their best period was before, but including 'Exile on Main Street'.

as much as i liked some of their stuff above most in 60's and early 70's finishing with brown sugar i guess. one or 2 others i guess but its odd that i ended up liking the beatles more; maybe because they stopped at the top.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Last Stone album I have is 'Emotional Rescue' which I think is 1980
Got a live one from later but it's not very good. 'Flashpoint' or something like that.

'Some Girls" was their flirtation with disco. Fortunately it was a passing phase.

The stones since the 80s have been rather poor, IMO... Still like to see em rockin' though.
Went to see them with Voodoo Lounge. They were okay.
Just wish they could visit the psychedelic phase again... For me it's all a bit peapodrock.
