I'm not sure if they have anything to do with valves. The SR840 is an amp designed to power the Tannoy monitor speakers. Surprisingly for a professional amplifier the XLR inputs are not balanced, so I believe the octal sockets were to allow transformers to be fitted to make the amp fully balanced.

Jesper's friend will easily find out what they are for, though it is surprising that the transformers are missing.

    My thoughts/concern exactly Macca

Not that I’m an expert quite the opposite, and the main reason why I’m in here asking you guys & girls
I was hoping that someone in here might have some knowledge/experience with this “mod”

The amp came from a sound studio here in Denmark, unfortunately the guy who had it is now passed away
I brought it from his son

    Traffos would make more sense.

Must have been robbed out for some other purpose. I know it does happen that they mod and cannibalise equipment in studios or at least they did years ago,
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Hopefully the repair shop know what it is and what’s missing…

Oh, forgot to mention that I’ll try to keep costs down by buying as many off the “parts” before I send it off to the repair shop
I’m already sourcing out a bunch of new stuff

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
