I still think 1972 has the edge. In addition to the singles I bought (some of which are defo classics), !972 also gave us:

    Nilsson Without You
    Layla
    Starman
    In a Broken Dream
    Rocket Man
    Lets Stay Together
The first time ever I saw your face
    Vincent
    Mother and Child Reunion
and of course Ernie the Fastest Milkman in the West

Though we are always going to favour the music from our formative years, so opinions are always going to be subjective. Unless we're talking about anything from this century, no justifying that.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

ABBA was never my sort of thing but you have to admire the genius. Whereas the Dooleys were just pap.

You still hear ABBA songs played and youngsters have heard of them. No-one ever mentions the Dooleys. Except you.

Have to agree 1979 was an amazing year for music releases. So much great stuff you didn't know what to buy next!

you don't get that many good songs per decade now.

In retrospect we were spoiled but at the time it just seemed normal that every week there would be some great tune coming out.

Maybe I should have that one instead at my funeral if people are taking the day off work.
