If that was the only thing then I could live with it.

I don't like the buttons, they are clustered and all the same size. 'Play' should be larger than the rest or somehow otherwise easily identifiable from the others.

On a machine at this price they should light up or have LEDs set in them that light up. The display is the correct colour so I'll give them that.

I like full track access on the front too, 1 to 10 keys and a +10. Although that's not a deal-breaker.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

    Same.
Love the ‘lab equipment’ look of the older ones.

Too much of a risk though, should the laser go, pretty much the case sadly with a lot of vintage cd players.
Endgame investment players wise, the Jay’s Audio CDT3 Mk3 gets my vote.
    Chinese though, so there’s that.

The Jay's is designed to look pretty rather than functional. Seems to be the modern trend.

I actually can't find any current high end transports I like the look of. This Teac is probably the best of them.

There are a few on Ebay at the moment, some of them 'serviced'. I agree, they do look proper. And probably not made in china.

I expect headphone listening (especially with those Focals) would reveal even minor changes made elsewhere, so yes, I'd believe it

I'd be fine with streaming, but it would have to be a simple set up, and I do mean SIMPLE. Not what would be simple for you And if I'm being honest there is probably a dark corner of my mind that fears that the convenience of streaming would have me neglecting my CDs and vinyl.

    What function is missing?
(Not trying to be a smartass )

Looks like a lot of design has gone into what’s under the hood as well?
Enjoy it as a top loader, subjective of course, but watcha think?
