    Default Cartridge Renewal part 2

Having now sold my Koetsu Rosewood and hopefully my MC3000MK2 will sell soon too. Admittedly the first three in the list would stretch my budget and I am not sure if I will get a significant improvement to justify the extra £700 to £1000 in cost ?

So what do I replace the Koetsu Rosewood with ?

Shortlist so far from recommendations is:

    Koetsu Rosewood Signature
    Hana Umami Red
    Benz Micro LP-S
    Koetsu Rosewood
    Jasmine Audio Tiger
    Hana Umami Blue

    Any more suggestions welcome.

Whilst I confess I don't have any experience of any of the recommended cartridges in your short list, I would probably go for the Benz; based solely on the fact that Van den Hul used Benz cartridges for subsequent modification after his spell with modifying EMT designs.

(I also have to confess I'm suspicious of any cartridges that have 'pretty' bodies.)

And 'sleeved' cantilever construction as per Hana is something I wonder about. Interfaces can cause modes.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I have heard these two cartridges and they were very good indeed. Also heard that Gold Note Machiavelli - very nice indeed.

If in budget you really should consider one of these, not dissimilar to a Micro Benz, very clear and clean sound, not quite as much high end detail as an LP-S, but then it's more that double the price. I nearly settled on one or the PP-500.

and the dealer may have one for you to try out.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Analog Inputs: Pro-Ject Signature 10 TT & arm, Benz Micro LP-S, Michel Cusis MC, Goldring 2500 and Ortofon Rondo Blue cartridges, Hitachi FT5500 mk2 Tuner

Digital:- Marantz SA-KI Pearl CD player, RaspberryPi/HifiBerry Digi+ Pro, Buffalo NAS Drive

Amplification:- AudioValve Sunilda phono stage, Krell KSP-7B pre-amp, Krell KSA-80 power amp

Output: Wilson Benesch Vector speakers, KLH Ultimate One Headphones

Cables: Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA & Chord Epic 2 RCA, various speaker leads, & links

I think I am nearing audio nirvana, but don’t tell anyone.

Having a 1980's Kiseki Blue Gold Spot (retipped with a micro ridge stylus) I aspire to one day have a Kiseki Purple Heart https://www.cheshireaudio.co.uk/acat...Heart-124.html - the wife keeps telling me to carry on dreaming :-(

Maybe that would be of interest to you - or, possibly, the Kiseki Black Heart if feeling very rich https://www.cheshireaudio.co.uk/acat...Heart-126.html

No objection to those two, though the latter is probably more expensive than what I think Mark want to spend.
