    Default Bowing out of hifi

I guess I haven’t been around much anyway but the Sudden Sensorinearal Hearing Loss which came my way two years back has ruined the game for me so the equipment under my name will be up for grabs soon.
Don’t want to see it go but at least other ears may benefit….
Watch this and other forum sales if anything appeals.

can you get hearing aids? maybe headphones might do it for you, and let you still listen to some music.

Yes but they don’t quite cut it. It’s less the volume but more of a distortion issue - everything sounds ‘spitty’ like frying onions. Sort of.
Basically if I can’t listen properly I’d rather not bother. I will retain some headphones though - probably the Stax setup.

That's a great shame Robin. Are you sure you can't use hearing aids that will go some way to ameliorate the situation and allow you to continue to enjoy music?

Can you still enjoy live music, or is it only reproduced music that you find difficult?

my uncle has the same or a similar problem. Loved the west coast jazz scene and Stan Getz in particular. Now has hearing aids and just cannot hear anything worth listening to.

Unfortunately hearing aids just amplify the distortion where mid to high frequencies just break up.
However I’m very grateful for the pleasures I’ve had so no complaints. Just think this high end gear hanging around could benefit others instead of gathering dust here.
Decided to develop my watch collection instead so hopefully add some funds to my allocation in due course. I can still hear plenty - just not the quality.

    That's a real shame Robin. I sympathise.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
