Default New CD player with balanced outputs

    Hi all.

I'm on the lookout for a new (or oldish) CD player which has balanced outputs. My cd player has now in my sons system in his bedroom so I doubt I'd see that again.

Can anyone recommend something? Don't mind second hand. I'm not too keen on vintage as the lasers can be iffy.

    Recommended away...

    Many thanks
    Jo

I would have thought any recent reasonably up-market player would have balanced XLR outputs. I'm thinking of Creek, Rotel, Cambridge, Accuphase, Krell etc.

I use a Levinson ML 390S, which I do use in balanced mode (along with the rest of my system), but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

    What is your budget Josie?

At that price range, you might be better off getting a dac and transport as even budget DACs sound good now and many have balanced outputs whereas decent CD players with balanced outputs cost more.

If you went s/h then, even if the laser went on the transport you've still got half the source.

Or alternatively newish transport but older mid range dac with less to go wrong.

    Thanks Lawrence.

Yep... I'm keeping flexible. I'm also prepared to up the budget if nothing looks good enough.

I’m getting ready to advertise my Gustard A22 DAC. This has balanced outputs and dual differential DACs. Also it can operate as a digital preamp. PM me if you’re interested…you would of course need a CD transport too.
