Get yourself one of these and use a conventional Belling & Lee aerial plug.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Connector-S...7Z4CLT9N&psc=1

(According to a radio ham friend of mine, F-connectors are so called because they're F - ucking useless! )

Well I’ve now got the Sony hooked up to the B&O’s and it’s doing a pretty good job , the Roksan still has the edge by a small margin imo .

That's a very good shout Barry, yes F type connectors are the spawn of the devil.

Andy, sometimes F type connectors are difficult to locate on the thread initially. Once done up they have to be'nipped' to make good RF contact.
    Horrible things.
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Done it now mate , with the f type plug I can’t get any stations in stereo but without the plug and just the wire poked in and the wrapped around the thread I then get stations in stereo

Now they’re a little tight in there so a silent fan may be on order

Do you realise that the F type has no centre pin?

The inner conductor from the coax has to be cut long to form the centre pin, it can be bent and shorted whilst trying to mate with the socket.
    As I said horrible things.

Ah ! Maybe that’s where I’m going wrong, I have it too short I reckon.

    Thanks Alan
