Celestion were turning out good and interesting speakers back then. Not heard those, but I'd expect them to be decent.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I had a pair they're great the only thing to bear in mind is there's no treble above or below the ribbon so height is crucial.

    Edit make that 3 pairs

Also the dedicated stands are rubbish and topple over in a light breeze

Indeed they are here fasinating design and heavy solid walnut

Brilliant design and sound - real strange feature never heard before from the listening chair you hear the treble beam when you stand up it disappears like its not there weird to get used too

Some people find it hard to listen to anything other than ribbon tweeters once they've got used to them. There may be no going back, so be warned!

Wee bit of tinkering with positioning the ribbon is fast these were if this is right a sub £699 in 1989 Yikes plus the stands were £300 on top of that - They blow the SL6 in the weeds

One of the problems with an acoustic line source. The Quad 57 electrostatics suffer from the same problem, only partially ameliorated by curving the line source into a shallow arc,
