what about neighbourhood walking clubs and that sort of thing?

Read some statistics that majority of people find their other half at work. Although dating women you work with, that's prone to all sorts of issues IME.

If you're retired you could volunteer at a charity place, most volunteers seem to be females.

If any local bars have a 'Grab a Gran' night, just go to one of those looking your most affluent. You'll be fighting them off!

Years ago my brother used a dating site called "Sugar Daddy.com" Presumably pairing women with well off blokes. He ended up with this woman who had way more money than him. She was worth £20m or so. She wasn't looking for a sugar daddy, just someone with enough dough not to be a sponger. They were together for years.

A friend of mine made a comment around 15 years ago, that most guys who still have teeth and hair after 55 are in with a chance! You [OP] may not even have reached that age yet, so good luck.

Similarly with night schools and adult college courses. I did a sports therapy course several years ago, and of the 12 people attending 5 were women, and all of them divorced. I wasn't in the market for a relationship - I genuinely wanted to learn - but I think some of the others were.

    I wouldn't bother with anything hifi related, they're invariably a right sausage-fest
I would have thought a life drawing class would be better but then realised that if you're competing with nine other blokes in macs for the attention of one life model, the odds are probably against you.

nothing pervy will get you very far... well not on rd you wish. gardening, cycling and hillwalking etc are all good potentially and at least you'll probably be rubbing shoulders with healthy folk, which is a bonus.
im fortunate in that i can get along in my own company ok many cannot tho and need company. a dog or cat may be a good initial comprimise tho, and a dog will get you out etc

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

FWIW I have just turned 60. I have "access" to the family dog, and certainly he makes it easy to talk to women when out for a walk.
Admittedly when the kids were tiny they were a much better ice breaker!
Hair? Long gone. Teeth, just about. Obese? No, just a bit overweight, but ok by modern standards.
I scrub up ok and pay attention to my hygiene and clothes.
I really like the tone of the support here. Nowt patronising or indulgent. Bit of humour. Excellent stuff.

Owning a dog in general is a great way to meet your neighbours, and other dogs of course!

I think Sandy can afford to set his sights a bit higher

Have you considered dance classes? You'll find some very attractive ladies there, and it's a good way to keep fit and lose those excess pounds. This is me after just a few weeks...

A friend used to say his AA meetings (yes, he is/was an alcoholic) were great for meeting women. It finally dawned on him that if anything, the females there had even more 'issues' than he did!
