Default Dating over 50! Websites and such...

You were very supportive when my marriage went tits up. And things not going badly there, yet.

Has anyone any experience of dating websites? They seem to be aimed at younger folk than me, and perhaps more socially adept. My mostly female and married colleagues are very encouraging that I ought to get out there...

Don't do introduction agencies they're a scam. And I read that some websites charge a minimum period like a year (think it was Match.com) so if you meet someone quick you have to keep paying them even though you're not using them any more.

Have a free browse and see if anyone your age comes up, they should have an age filter of some sort if only a rough range.

They all seem to demand a "investment" ahead...
    You confirm my doubts.

I think grindr is a niche app for blokes seeking blokes, not that I have a problem with that, just not for me.

It is, it's was meant as a joke for newbies doing dating sites. One to avoid if you like the ladies.

Try joining a club. Such as a camera club, or U3A or a Bridge club. Can’t guarantee any “results”, but I have seen things work with U3A - even if only socially.

OTOH I know people who didn’t bother and not feeling so tied down, travelled in a camper van with a dog, and didn’t worry about women after their earlier experiences.

Depends really what you hope to achieve. Some of it is up to you.

I would agree with Dave, joining a club is worth trying. Just by starting with a common interest you're halfway there. You get to know the other person at an unforced pace, and in the company of others, so no need for it to feel awkward.

Similarly with night schools and adult college courses. I did a sports therapy course several years ago, and of the 12 people attending 5 were women, and all of them divorced. I wasn't in the market for a relationship - I genuinely wanted to learn - but I think some of the others were.

    I wouldn't bother with anything hifi related, they're invariably a right sausage-fest
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

Sausage fest!!!!! I think a camera club would be the same.
Appropriate for "the frying pan" comment...

Bingo? Eh, Mecca? Perhaps I just need to get better at being in my own company. Or get a dog. And a van!
