“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I joined Match when I was 45. I chatted to loads of ladies, around 15 if I remember correctly. All were lovely, but one called Bonny really stood out and we connected straight away (back in October 2021). Today was our second Christmas Day together. We're engaged and moving house together (again) next week.

I was on a few sites, but Match really is the best. Not expensive, min 6 months as most are.

Just be a real person and approach as a friend. Works a treat.

When on your first date, how did you work being called Big Bob Joylove into the conversation? Must have been quite an ice breaker

As someone who turns 50 tomorrow but is happily married, I dont think I could face any sort of trawling experience, whether it be dating sites or out in pubs. I go to a gym with mixed ability classes, I dont think there is an easier way to meet females who tend to have a positive outlook, look after themselves, and aren't out trawling im pubs. I'd say its a 60/40 mix female/ male and we socialise outside of the gym...Charity events etc...and it's do easy to start conversations with someone who is possibly following you in a circuit class or pairing with you in a class that you works in twos.
    No brainer.
