My turntable came supplied with no platter mat, and a heavy record weight, which were no doubt found to measure better than the alternative. And the Technics-derived high torque motor has no problem with it. I have faith in the manufacturer's decision, and feel no need to challenge it by going against it. And I think it just looks right - on the occasions when I forgot to put it on, I got an OCD itch I couldn't ignore.

At 20 I'd say it's worth trying. And if it doesn't work out, it could become a really nice paperweight - ideal xmas gift for anyone working in a draughty office.

If I have to work any harder at selling your clamp I'll be wanting commission

Same as mine, similar to your weight.

Apologies Mike, for messing with your sale. Although you're getting lots of free bumps... Again, GLWS.
