Default Castle Severn 2 floor standers light oak veneer

The cabinets are immaculate and as close to mint condition as you are likely to find on a pair of legacy loudspeakers (manufactured around 25 years ago). Made in the UK by Castle in Yorkshire - well known for the quality of their cabinet making. These are as much pieces of furniture as they are speakers. I would describe these as small floor-standers.

There is no ‘sun fading’ to the wood which you so often see when speaker grilles are left in place.

In my opinion, these speakers produce a (slightly) warmish sound. I would call them relaxed and certainly not "bright" sounding. I've used them with vinyl and various iterations of digital. I can listen to them for hours without feeling any fatigue on the ears.

They are currently being used in a second system.

    Technical;
    47Hz - 20kHz
    8 ohm
    2 way speaker
    25mm composite soft dome tweeter.
    150mm bass/mid range unit - carbon fibre.
    Sensitivity - 1w/1m @ 87dB
    Dimension; 770mm tall, 200mm wide, 230mm deep

I currently have them connected to a 35 watt digital amp and they perform beautifully.

In my main system, they’ve also been happily running with a 50 watt Rega Brio amp.

Some very light 'crazing' to both tweeters which I've been told could be re-doped to return to A1 visual condition. Both tweeters measuring 6.5/6.6 ohm but I haven't measure the woofers.

I do have the boxes but haven't taken photos.

These are collection only (Gloucestershire) although I would be prepared to meet up along the M4 corridor, between Chippenham and Newbury (subject to prior arrangements being made).

    Asking £275.

    Thanks for looking.

I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

As it's over £250, full sized photos will need to be shown. Thanks.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Hi Geoff.
Sorry, I didn’t realise. I don’t seem to be doing very well with this!
I’ll sort photos in the morning.
    Thanks

    Hi Geoff
Sadly I think I'm going to have to give up with this and remove the ad.
I admit to not being very experienced with uploading photos, so I've chkd the FAQs again.
Every time I create an album and try to upload photos from my PC, they are reduced in size by about 90%.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong/how to overcome this.
If I need some sort of external hosting, I don't have this.
    Thanks
    Stuart

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
