My Eclipse TD316SW decided to give up the ghost watching a movie last night - instead of rumbling during a car chase it went "thup thup thup" and that's that... It's had light duty in our small living room and <80dB SPL, but it's a good few years old. I plugged in an old Philips sub in it's place and all is well, so definitely not a cable or AV amp issue.

It's hefty weight at 20kg and rarely appear 2nd hand market so I'd like to get it repaired if possible... Can anyone advice of a reputable AV repair company around the South Wales area?

I've contacted Peter Elison at Audio T who has been very good in the past, but he doesn't do subwoofers.

I've taken the top off and pressed in the driver gently, and there's no scratching noise or friction to suggest it's clipped and blown the coil.. It powers up fine if I turn the volume up to max on the dial and play some music I can still hear some faint noise out of the speaker so I suspect it could be the amplifier section.

There are a few internal shots here, it's an unusual design.
