I suppose the 787 is an ok choice.

Shanghai to LHR - around 14 hours - that's long. Not even sure what the route is now - thanks to a certain person. LHR to Bangkok was great in an Airbus 380 - best plane ever - but the 777 we came back in was dire. If it wasn't the noisiest plane inside that I've ever been in, it sure felt like it was. Appalling - even with ear plugs.
It's taken me years to accept the statistics - that it is safer than driving - and some flights still do have what to me feel like dodgy moments. I really don't like turbulence, though I've now given up counting the number of flights I've been on.
If I remember I try to take photos - though it's a bit hit and miss.

As you know, it is all about maintenance costs.
The A380 is a great aircraft, but I am a little biased in my opinion.

We were planning to go to Brazil, but that's been shelved for the moment. That's a heck of a long way over water, and I think perhaps the best option now is the Dreamliner - but it is a long way - and only two engines .....
I doubt that the 380s will go on that route - would be great if they did. I wasn't too biased before I went on one - incredible planes - and perhaps I'll never go on such a comfortable or relatively quiet flight again. Maybe the 350s are similar, but like the Dreamliner, only two engines.

They will fly the ETOPS routes, so theoretically, will be fine.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
