    I'm Chris.

Default What do I have here?

    Learned folk of AoS.

I am looking for a 24volt linear power supply DC.
This one has been at the back of my cupboard for years. Its labelled Farnell RB24/2.4 BT10 211

Firstly is it a linear power supply (vs switching)

    Secondly is it DC

Thirdly are the two outlets likely to be 2.4v and 24v

Hi Chris, it's likely to be a 24V 2.4A psu.
It is definitely linear with one output. The +S and -S are sense terminals and should be left connected to the O/P terminals as shown.

Best thing is to power it up and measure the output voltage with a multimeter. Mind the exposed mains terminals on the transformer.

    Cheers
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

    Thanks Alan

I doubt this was designed for Hi Fi use, but how do you think it would stack up against new 24v dedicated linear supplies some of which can be £100s

    PS

There is a cover to the mains connections which I removed for the photo. If its OK, I may even mount the whole thing in a nice box
