    I'm Russell.

    Default Acrylic Mat (5mm).

Good morning. I have a SL1200GR, on an Apollo wall shelf. Cartridges used are 2m black, DL103R, AT440MLB. I've been using felt, Cork and the supplied rubber mats. Given that it's common for slight warpage of LPs, what could I expect to gain from a £40 Acrylic mat? I am also using the Michelle clamp. I'm struggling to justify it to my Bank Account!!!! Much needed help please!! EDIT:- NO replies. I can only assume that there are no benefits, apart from that of the manufacturers sales.

Hi Russell, i've tried a few mats on my 'hot rodded' 1200 which has a copper topped platter and felt acrylic was the wrong way to go, sound became thinner and was no help regards static. Present fav is a silicone mat from Audioref but also like a thick flat rubber mat, wasn't impressed with cork. Funk firm Achromat would probably be next to try. Bank account pha! not with this hobby
