    I'm Itse.

Default New member from The Netherlands

I feel privileged to be now a member of this very interesting and supportive Forum.

I'm a retired male over 65 years old, living in the northern part of The Netherlands

I've a rather limited audiophile system consisting of

    1. RME ADI-2 PRO AE AD/DA converter which operates as a pre-amplifier as well.
    2. SENNHEISER 650HD Headphone
    3. Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphone

I've an external USB Harddisk with over 2000 Albums of digitized audiophiles (WAV, up to DSD). It contains classical music in all their variants, as well as jazz, R&B, rock, pop etc.; I preferably listen to Live recordings.

Currently I'm looking for a fully shielded aftermarket Cable for my Sennheiser 650HD, which should replace the cable accompanied with the SENNHEISER Headphone. And I hope that someone in the Forum can help me further with suggestions and ideas regarding components to be used and preferably with someone who is willing to assemble the cable at reasonable costs.

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

    DuctBBQ

    Welcome to the forum!

I tried many cables with my HD650s including Chinese silver litz and a home made Canare I think.

In the end I bought a second hand Cardas Cross for about £100 and it was better than anything else. I can't put it into words well but it was probably more relaxed and natural than the others and I highly recommend it.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Welcome to AoS Itse,

I commend you on your broad tastes in music.

Afraid I can't help regarding a change of cable for your Sennheiser headphones: all the headphones I have used have had a captive lead. But I'm sure there will be some suitable suggestions made by Members for you to consider.

    Enjoy the Forum

    Hello Itse. Welcome to AOS.

I'm sure somebody here can help with headphone cables to suit your needs. Why not start a thread outlining your ideas in The Artist's Pallette section? Headhones are discussed there.

Anyway, join in any chat that interests you, there's plenty going on and it's a friendly place.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
