Default Gaming Station for the kids

I have my kids round every weekend and to make sure they can all game at the same time I decided to build a gaming station in their bedroom.

I wanted to build something to house an Xbox Series X and PS4 next to each other on the wall but with all the wires hidden.

After some measuring up I bought a lump of MDF and had it cut to size at my local ,B,&Q.

The shelf section I re-cut at home as needed it deeper on the left side for the PS4 than it needed to be on the right for the more rectangular Xbox. This was then attached to the wall..

Once this was bolted on with plasterboard wall anchors, I started to cut and drill some holes out of the back board for the wires going to the consoles themselves and the monitors above them. This backboard will sit proud of the wall to allow all the wires to be tucked behind.

To make sure these were exactly in the right place I made a template from the back of the 2 consoles and measured exactly where my vesa mounts would need to be placed..

Next thing to do was make a frame for the MDF board being attached to the wall and therefore giving me the wire gap I wanted behind it.

I did think about burying the wires behind the existing plasterboard but there was a lot of wires to feed in and out and wasn't too sure what was lurking beneath. Knuckle knocking didn't always give a hollow sound!

Also put a 4 gang individually switched extension lead up to the left side

Got the back board half covered in white sticky back plastic. Got all the wires in place and screwed it to the frame. The rest of the sticky back plastic covered the screws and I finished off with some leds behind the 2 monitors.

Kids well pleased which means a nice quiet night for me when they are round lol.

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Thanks Grant. It turned out well and wasn't too labour intensive.
