Looking at simplifying my current 3 box cd player and DAC. I'm a bit out of touch bit I know Audiolab etc did cd players with selectable digital inputs.
What is there about for say £500 new or used.

Cambridge Audio did a CD player few years back with built in Dac, a good one too.
850C was it?
Can get its successor the 851C from Richer Sounds for a couple of hundred pounds above your budget brand new with guarantee. £699

the chip set in mine has been superseded..by the es9038 [off the top of my head] in the nord easystream connect dac with kardas tone board. this kicks the artera's bum sonically in dac mode. But the cdp is still very good and the pre amp section excellent. Not up to MFA CLASSIC V2 ..but not much is !.. just checked the artera play2 uses the es9018 chip set

I'd be moving from a chevron paradox DAC which whilst probably dated, does make lovely sounds. Hoping technology has made similar quality cheaper and smaller?.
