    Default SB Touch replacement

    Hi,

I need a replacement for my SB Touch and am looking at building a Raspberry Pi system.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a guide to build and what components to buy?

    Thanks in advance,

    Graham

Ware you looking for analog out or digital out from the pi? Would definitely recommend using picoreplayer seeing as you have been using a Squeezebox.

I have a Pi and am very please with it. I did have the board feeding a DAC from Allo that just sat on top of the PCB. Now I have it serving a separate DAC (from RME).

I used this site as my starting point:

The pi is now V4 rather than the V3 mentioned in the link. I use it with Volumio.

I too replaced a logitech touch (I still have it, 'just in case'), by an Allo digione player. A Pi (3 or 4), with an addon card to provide an spdif output to my DAC. It runs picoreplayer for playback, and I can also run the LMS software on it too.

There are helpful videos on youtube. search for allo digione or picoreplayer.

This does not do two things that the touch did - it does not have a touch screen, and it does not have a builtin DAC.

if you need a builtin DAC, allo and others do these, and if you need a touch screen, the 'official' pi touch screen can be used - yt videos can show you how,

Depending on if you want a like for like replacement of the SBT then there are a number of full kits that use the Raspberry Pi 7 inch touch screen and specific cases that hold your Raspberry Pi , and Touch screen and have a split usb power lead to power this all up . Once constructed this has a full touch screen like the SBT and looks and works exactly the same .

Also in case you are not that confident on doing all this yourself or do not have people that can help this site sells either a bundle or a fully constructed unit.

I still have my Touch and it is sync'd to my pi/digione so that the Touch screen still show artwork and you can still use the touchscreen, bloomin' marvellous. That'll save you faffing around with a pi screen, just connect power and network to the Touch.

Wow. What a brilliantly simple idea. Thank you.

I still have two working pieces of the SB Touch. I just can't find anything to beat it really.
