Shane, if you can find one, I'd heartily recommend Myryad's Z40 headphone pre. 4 line level inputs, 2 headphone sockets, will drive just about any headphones. Nicely built too. Will do everything you need it to do2nd hand, will come in way under your budget.

This is true, and those who got one before they all went got a real bargain. I've no doubt there were some who bought to sell on at a profit.
