It can't be seen with the lid on anyway, so what does it matter?

If you look really closely at the shielding assembly you'll see it's misshaped, and to the right there are dozens of surface mount component pads.
The misshaped shielding assembly appears to be like that to prevent shorts across those solder pads.

It's a belt and braces solution to a practical problem without having to redesign the PCBs, and scrap all the earlier production work.
Problems with PCBs and their design occur all the time.

If it's a problem then you really need to seek psychiatric help.

Really good gear usually looks really nice inside. If you make the claim it's "engineered with care" you should expect criticism if it looks shoddy inside.

Prince Philip would have had something to say about it if he'd seen it, but I can't repeat it here.

The cover only has one fixing point, and is being pulled out of square by the wires from the transformer. Nothing to worry about, but it would offend my sense of aethetics.

(But then I'm so OCD, I will line up the lettering of a CD so that it is exactly square with the jewel case after playing the disc. )

If a volume control displays in numbers, I can never leave it on an odd number. it has to be 16, 24, 30 etc or I cannot relax. Although 15, 25, 35 etc are ok. Is that OCD?

If it's any consolation I am exactly the same. No way could I have an odd number on the volume control. Also shoes have to be tidy and placed together very neatly. So I'd say I was OCD in those ways.

Peter Belt used to have a thing against even numbers and Hi-Fi...

The way books are bound they always have an even number of pages.

But if you fold over the corner of one page in every book and magazine in the listening room...

...it is enough to fool the Hi-Fi into thinking all the books have an odd number of pages.

I've not tried this (because I cannae be arsed).

But didn't he also advocate putting a piece of paper under one foot of each piece of equipment to fool it into thinking it only had three feet?

I did try that one as I was on the dole with time to kill. I thought there might at least be a psychological effect but didn't even get that.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
