    Default Quad 405 - 1 binding posts

Has anyone replaced the binding posts on the quad 405 - 1 without any mods to the chassis? If you have which posts did you use?

    Thanks

You need to do more than simply replace the spring loaded loudspeaker terminals on the 405-1.

    1. First of all replace the poor quality LM301 chip for a better one.

    2. Then upgrade the voltage dropping resistors on the two voltage rails that feed the IC for ones rated at 1W.

Now you can think about replacing the 'binding posts, but you will have to find a way of detaching the output protection PCB from the rear of the existing terminals and re-attach it to the rear of the new terminals.

Regarding the choice of new terminals, any good quality 5-way binding post will do, or you can simply use 4mm sockets if the speaker leads are terminated with plugs.
