“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Me too. Currenty using a Marantz CD67SE as transport (saved from a skip), feeding this into a £4800 DAC, so expecting at least some improvement. . But realistically I dont expect it to get anywhere near the SW1X music server and USB/spdiff converter.

There are some very good bits of kit out there that do not cost thousands which really hold there own, this is particularly true in the digital domain, just need to know what to go for.

    I hope it surprises you.

Read about this when researching buying my own.

It was the same few people who were posting on different forums about it, all around the same time.
My takeaway was that it was a "Friday Afternoon" job, a bad batch that affected a few folk.

Cant fault playback on mine, built like a tank, smooth and whisper quiet.
Zero scratched discs or skips, played every CDR and CDRW I've put in it.

I did the belt and braces insurance - 6 years of cover for about £30. Any repairs over that entire period are collected and posted back at Richer Sounds expense and after the 6 years if no claims have been made the entire £30 is refunded in full.
